I have a friend of mine who had sex with his girlfriend which resulted in her getting pregnant. He couldve run away from it all,but he didnt. He went through so much and still stood by her and his unborn baby. After she gave birth they got married. Both of them admitted their sin and accepted the punishment. He got lashed a 100times and was exiled to an island for 12 months away from his new born baby and his beloved wife. the wife was lashed and confined to house arrest for a year.
Then came the case of a 12 year old girl being RAPED by 4 elderly guys. what happened? the judge said that the girl didnt cry out for help during it and sentenced then to 8months in exile. is it that difficult to believe why she couldnt cry out for help? she is jes 12 years old and these were FOUR elder guys that were raping her. is it just? a guy who didnt RAPE his girlfriend who owned up to it all gets 100 lashings and 12months exile while these guys get jes 8months exile for RAPING a 12 year old girl. :S

hoorey for the ****ed justice system..that will never deliver the correct verdict....and follows the scent of corruption and greed....
Thats why I take justice into my own hands. I hate these so-called "laws" and I'm not above outright killing an abusive person.
It's harsh, but I've learnt long ago that rules are always made to protect a certain minority of society.
hey mr.anonymous, i believe the only reason these kinda things are so common is only because we don't follow our religion and the govt. has failed to follow islamic laws.

@autodynamix and @mini: totally agree with u both. if those laws were actually followed, these problems would vastly diminish in jes a matter of days, thats what i believe.
@starky: yea, everybody needs to know that such an 'event' is taking place a day or two prior to it happening and the time. it might even be a good idea to tell about it on the news.

Holy shit! This is exactly why I say the maldivian justice system is screwed up....along with the moral values of people in it.what is it? A shariyah law or international? Sooner or later they have to choose because both laws seriusly do not mix.People keep demanding for the rights of people in jail...wat about the right of the poor little gurl huh?

Because statistics show that most crimes are a spur of the moment kind of thing...and when u mix guns,druggies and spur of the moment things...
