Galo Gadharu

We are told not to ask Qs about it. Just to believe it. For those who don’t know the term it means that god knows everything that has happened and everything that will happen. That god knows the choices that will be given to us and the choices we’ll make even before we do it. But then the Question asked is “does he have control over all our actions? If he does whats the point of it all?” and “how would god know of it all?”

I was recently asked this question again by a friend. I told him that a bro of mine and I had a small discussion abt it and heres a small theory that we came up with. Ofcourse it dusnt have to be true.

For example lets take a maze(u all know what a maze is right?). lets say I built the whole maze and I know all the routes in it. So im letting a small mouse into it at the beginning. When it goes inside the maze ill definitely know that its gonna meet a choice of lets say 3 routes to choose from at first. And that if it takes the first one, itll have to go through another series of routes etc. same goes for the other routes. In short from the beginning of the maze till the end I the maker will know all the choices that the mouse will come across and every single route to its full extent. Ill know its whole life IN the maze taking into account its actions in the maze. But this is jes a simple and small example.

But in that example I don’t know how the rat would think right? But god cannot even be compared to such a pathetic example. He created humans and knows us best upto the function of every teeny bit of cell in out body. Plus he created this world where we live in and everything in it. Even all the obstacles and everything we’d come across in this world. He’s got a knowledge far superior than our limited brains and understanding could ever come close to comprehending. So why is that so hard to believe that god will know how everything will end and all the choices and decisions we would make. It dusnt mean god has control over our actions.

We have something called free will which is one of the most powerful things we possess. We can do whatever we want whenever we want. We have that choice and we can make that decision upto our capabilities. So don’t go “I don’t have control over my actions. It has already been written how my life will end”. U have the choice of choosing the right from the wrong and how ur going to live ur life.

It amazes me that you speak with so much certainty and conviction, when in actual reality, its all based on nothing but assumptions and unquestioned dogmas passed from generation to generation. "He created humans and knows us best upto the function of every teeny bit of cell in out body". Dude, no offense, but you sound like one of those sanctimonious know-it-alls that we all have learned to despise.

As for the mouse (or rat - make up your mind) in the maze analogy, first of all, the paths (for it to
traverse) were carved out by you, not the mouse itself, then the end of the maze, should there be one, was also designed and created by you. Whatever destiny the mouse had through this maze was predefined and laid out by you. Guess what this implies? Sure, the mouse has the free-will to choose whatever path it sees fit, supposing there were multiple options, but the fact of the matter remains; you limited the destiny of this mouse by placing it in the maze in the first place, which means you intervened in its life. Get my drift?

The concept of free-will is overrated. Most of our adherence to a particular faith (or creator) has nothing to do with it. If God exists and the historical narrations of prophets with miraculous abilities are true, how can you think people just started "believing" once they so the red sea part (Moses) or revival of the dead (Jesus) as based purely on free-will? Such stories are passed along from antiquity and when we are born, we are exposed to them by parents and society, at the same time, we are asked not to doubt its validity, no matter how absurd it sounds (kill logic and anything would seem appealing). Still sounds like we have a lot of so-called glorious free-will huh? Just pointing out the inherent inconsistencies with the beliefs that God exists and He gives us free-will to act on our own.

Apparently your post is self-contradictory.

(These two lines are extracted from your post)
1.That god knows the choices that will be given to us and the choices we’ll make even before we do it
2.So why is that so hard to believe that god will know how everything will end and all the choices and decisions we would make.

Then you say, "It dusnt mean god has control over our actions"

Take a really good look at point one and two above and tell me, It doesnt mean that? Really?

If we do have something called free will, then our lives cannot be predestined. If indeed our lives are predestined, then there cannot be free will in us. Something isnt right!

We are also not to question the other pillars of faith, namely, God, His Books, His Angels, His Messengers, and the Last Day. Face it islam IS dogmatic.

So why do you question it? Why even discuss it with your brother? Just say 'God knows best' and 'He's right' and leave it at that.

BUT..if you do want to question, question that first pillar; God (esp his existence). And the rest of the building will come crumbling down.

I hope by Ramazan you'll be a self-proclaimed atheist, and proud of it.

Another analogy is the Class Teacher and the Student. If for example, you didn't attend classes and through out the course your teacher would have a pretty good idea who's going to pass and who's going to fail.

In any case, within the religion domain, one of the luxuries attributed to humankind is the novelty of choice.

woohoo! i won the bet. made a bet with a friend that if i posted that in jes less than 24hrs there would be comments abt what a know-it-all i am even if i said its jes a talk i had one day with a bro of mine, even if its not an article i posted on a magazine or newspaper and something i wrote jes like that in my blog of all places. thank u everyone. arigatho gozaimas! :D

sounds to me like ur curious about that else u wouldnt post it up and jes kept it to urself. but it also looks like the ppl commenting are literally pissed abt it even if uve stated at the very top that these are all ur BABBLINGS. lol. ppl. always the same. so desperate to make a statement abt what they believe not giving a damn about other ppl's beliefs or their rights. ppl can believe anything they wanna. and kaiza is jes saying his opinion for gods sake. u guys dont have to read it in the first place if ur so against hearing what ppl have to say.

@ anonymous person who posted on August 7, 2007 11:25 PM

Reading through the comments, its hard to see if anyone is 'literally pissed' as you so daftly put it, and as you suggested, if Kaiza didn't want feedback, he would've either kept this to himself or disabled the comments. In defense of everyone who posted here, I honestly don't think they are imposing their beliefs (or lack of beliefs) on someone, they too are merely expressing themselves as is the intended purpose of such blogs, I suppose. You are overly judgmental, my friend.

@ Kaiza
No, I am not afraid to voice my opinions. And by the looks of it, neither are you. :)

I totally agree :)

dude, the guy said that it was just a theory and that it didnt have to be true. But its a nice theory dho.

and for you athiests who says we dont have free will:
We do have free will. this world we live in is a test. we are faced with many choices to make, god decides the choices we have to make (just like the creator of the maze predefined the routes for the rat/mouse - except god gave us and infinite amount of routes). we have the free will to make our choices.

are u guys gonna complain that we dont have free will just cose u wanted to live in mars and ended up in earth?

starky..... said...

mars wud be a kool place to live...u got two moons hehehehe

and u choose ur own will....if god forces y for those who are athiest became atheiest....u did that on ur free will

teacher and student anology sucks...teachers half of the time in male' dont know shit wat they are talkin abt..and here in degree some of the highest grade earners dont attend half of the class....go figure

damn..no matter how many times i see the topic i read it as galalhu dhandu

god gave us free will. he knows what our actions are going to be. when n where we're born or ven we die. but he doesnt influence our actions. thats what free will is. there's no harm in god knowing what we're gonna do

i feel like testing my kid brother. i know he'll be thirsty when he comes home, so i keep a bottle of cold seawater in sight. i know he'll drink it. the guy comes home and drinks it. i tell him off for being impatient and beat him with a red hot poker.

now am i sadistic? or am i just inculcating good habits in my brother? am i just? or does he deserve to be punished like that? what gives me the right to treat my kid brother like that? am i loving? why am i not merciful?

you might say i have no right while God has every right. alright maybe he does. but then at least he should stop attributing mercy and justice to himself. Dawkins put it right when described god as "jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, blood-thirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniac, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

It is a paradox I've been thinking about too.

We have free will

BUT

God knows everything that we will do and the outcome.

So, what is the purpose of Life on Earth?

kaiza shozey said...

do u guys all have to post as anonymous? it kinda getting confusing in here u know. especially when it comes to replieng to em.hehe. so ill put it this way.
AFTER my last comment

anonymous1:thanx for the comment and for sticking up for me. really apreciate it. but fizan is right about what he commented right after u too dho? :)

anonymous2:allah akbar!

fizan:thanx :D. ill take that as a compliment

asphysiator, goldberg, raaji: thanx to u 2. i was really hesitated to write this post on my blog but now im glad i did. :)

anonymous3: "are u guys gonna complain that we dont have free will just cose u wanted to live in mars and ended up in earth?". hehe. niiicely said. i guess everybody has their points

starky: "galalhu dhandu"? seriously dude. lol. hggh. then again, as xpectd from u dude.hehe. miss u over here man. especially during the late night coffees.

misraabu:thank u so much for not posting as an anonymous and actually giving a name. arigatho gozaimas. i was getting tired of having to give too many numbers to the anonymous ones.hehe

anonymous4: the reason why ur treating ur bro like that and u not wanting to be merciful is u dho? all i know is that if it were me, id jes settle for a "i knew u'd do it" at a max instead of the red hot poker. ouch!
And Dawkins really said all that about god? hmmmm. he must know alot. especially the things that god is jealous of too. hmmmmmm. seems he really knows alot about god too. i wish i could meet this Dawkins.got so many Qs to ask. and yea, god is alot of those attributes uve described dho? plus the opposites of those as well. :)

Warm pixels:Purpose of life on earth? i seriously dont know. ppl say that its a test. all i know is that im living the way i wanna live life and even when i do leave this place after dying i believe that life doesnt end from there. i'd gladly believe that over believing that its the end for us when we die here.thats its all over from that point on.and its not like im giving up nething that i really wanna do in this life jes so that i could go to heaven. so im content. :D

starky..... said...

Good article, Kaiza-san.

I don't believe in fate, or destiny. Because in my opinion, it's just a device created by dogmatic people to instill fear and hate into the people.

"Kaleey naraka'ah dhaane! Ey kaleey ee nulafaa kuhjeh!."

It is the Actions of the said person which is at fault, and not the person in itself, because every person is born pure. Actions decide destiny. It's just my opinion; thanks.

And to that anonymous who wants to play mean tricks on their little brother, be warned; In the name of "good manners, Islam and real (sic) love." Parents like you create freaks like us. And we like to dispose of those who made us this way with such morbid cruelty that would make Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot shudder in disgust. Save the world from another mass killing, and play nice, won't you?.
