Asterix continued
Finally got some answers to a previous post on Asterix. every name of the characters in the comics have a significant meaning which relates to their characters. Note the names mentioned in that post. so about Asterix and Obelix. So it obviously cant be the "/" for obelix and "*" for asterix. SO i guess Obelix has something to do with obesity obviously. but maybe asterix does have a meaning from the "*". a friend of mine was explaining it the other day. since the "*" is usually used to highlight important points or so and since asterix in the comic is the key character. And cos he is the CENTRE of the whole comic. It sounds like a just reason. doesnt it?

Geriatrix = Geriatrics (relating to old)
Bacteria - a microbe
Influenza - a virus
Unhygienix = Unhygienic (dirty)
Cacofonix = Cacophony
Impedimenta = Impediment / Impede = exactly what she does, ain't it.
Almost every name has a pun. Check out the roman names too.

obesity & asterisk...hmmm...that makes some sense. asterisks are also used to hide letters in slang such as 'f***ing'. let's see how that relates to the Asterix character...

I also remember a roman goin by the name of Encyclopaedicus Britannicus in one of the books..

I pity the poor young souls who read asterix n fail to see the hidden humor..
